This is an extremely simple thing but yet I have not noticed for years.
Sometimes I know that maya will most probably crash after I do a certain thing. And once it crashed I usually find myself saying something like “Darn, I have to set the project again, open the file again, open the create cube dialog box and re-make some certain settings, wish I would closed and re-opened maya before…”
By default, preferences like dialog options, current project, recent file lists etc. automatically saved when maya receives a successful exit message. But crashes result losing that preferences.
There is a “Save Preferences” command under file menu, which I did not notice for years.
This command saves the current preferences like dialog options, current project, recent file lists etc. Especially while debugging things, I use this command a lot.
